Lipstick

After Palin made her comment about the difference between a hockey-mom and a pitbull, Obama said, "Well you can put lipstick on a pig." At first glance this would seem like a despicable attack on Palin. At a closer glance it is obvious Obama's comment was not directed in any way at Sarah Palin.

McCain tried to paint it that way by calling for an apology from Barack Obama. Of course Obama has nothing to apolize about since he was not in the wrong. McCain should apologize to Obama for his blatant lies.

  2. I don't know Mark, I think Obama was referring to Sarah Palin with the lipstick comment. The next line in his speech which was something like "if you wrap an old fish in paper and call it change, it's still gonna stink", which was clearly a shot a McCain.

Moreover, it is strangely coincidental that Biden used a "lipstick" joke in his comments yesterday too. I am not personally offended, as I think people take themselves way to seriously, but it is tough to argue that Obama wasn't taking a shot at Sarah Palin.

  3. This lipstick has controlled the news cycle for 2-3 days now. Even through the memorial of th worst day in American history, it still remains a topic of pointless discussion. I submit to you the only reason Rovian McCain (different from the original)would call Obama out on this trivial issue. It is something they themselves would have said had the roles been reversed. They tip their hand every time they begin to talk about the crowd's reaction. If they were truly offended, the laughter from the crowd would have been of no relevance. They know the success of a good subliminal message. However, the real issue here is this; everyday Obama passively suggests that the debate is on the issues, and the Republicans control the news cycle, McCain's winning. Even when Palin shows you clearly that she's out of her depth, they win the news cylce with that. Rove is a true crowd controller. He knew that rumors of Palin not being properly vetted would set the media ablaze. The female element was a particularly awesome touch as he knew that women wouldn't allow her to be so much as grazed with true scrutiny.
The 'Enough' line in the acceptance speech was powerful, but if Obama doesn't commit to more aggressive language to suggest to McCain that he stop hiding behind his VP choice and tackle the real debate, he may leave the outcome too much to chance.

Just curious, when did this happen?

  5. If anyone has ever listened to Obama, they would know he carefully he chooses every syllable that pours out of his mouth. His choice of words wasnt a coincidence. I dont believe he meant to call her a pig, but it was meant to mock.
